Blind’s opinion on Meta
Some pros: - allow billions of people to connect with friends, family, hobbies, etc. (FB/IG/WA) - kept TC bar high, didn’t collude in salary fixing, some of the best benefits in the industry - open source contribution (PyTorch/React) and pushing new technologies in Metaverse/FAIR/etc Some cons: - Cambridge Analytica + tracks your data (same with every free service) - negative media outlook + despised CEO - Horizon fiasco + TikTok/Google/Apple ad/metaverse competition
too many people got rejected, thus probably negative. i’m bullish on meta though

ig, whatsapp, oculus + fb still doing really well
Out of all the faangs its by far the lamest one with the lamest product. Apple has lame products too but not quite meta level.
Meta has far better product than google. WhatsApp and instagram surpass most of google product except maybe google search..

They're intentionally phasing out the "connect with friends and family" part to try and compete with TikTok
The number one cause of usage drips is likely death. Only so many boomers left.

Think they're viewed negatively now because Americans who vote a specific party are very butthurt they didn't win an election and started weird conspiracies related to FB being one of the reasons they lost. The party propaganda machine is strong on both sides. Especially on blind you would expect most would hate Apple because their shitty CEO started this salary fixing stuff. Too many bootlickers I guess?
