SFMBA to switch your career

Hi Techies, Just wanted to get your perspective on this. I’m a software engineering manager and with a total work experience of 12 years. I always wanted to do MBA since childhood. (Though I did MS in USA in CS) My age is 35 yrs. My TC is ~ $250K+ Does doing an SFMBA (Sloan Fellow MBA) in MIT now worth it to switch your career ? It’s just a one year program. What kind of roles I can expect after completing my SFMBA ? My ultimate agenda is to aim for C-suite. Appreciate your inputs. TIA.

Just saying - how many C suites scroll blind? Anyways, good luck finding your answer.

a peice of paper doesn’t entitle you to anything. You could open a farm and leverage networks you would have made in that one year

What do you want to do?

Climb up the corporate ladder… Aim for C-suite.

I havent worked enough long myself, but as I can see from people's LinkedIn profile that typically those who eventually climbed up the corporate ladder are those who have done strategy consulting (e.g. McKinsey, BCG, Bain). By doing an MBA, you get a chance of getting into the MBB firms through internship. However, you might want to do enough research to find out which MBA gives you the best edge for consulting. e.g. career path: MBA -> MBB -> Head of Strategy / Business Development -> Regional Head -> CEO

Nope, they advertise the class size is 250 but so is the class size of some 2 year MBA programs. You won’t be able to make a pivot because you miss out on the summer internship during your 1 year degree. If you think you can walk in into an IB or hedge fund job with your 1 year MBA degree after SWE, you will be laughed at

How is the WLB in MS, are you in tech of business roles?

I think it better to talk with c-suite/high level people in the industries you want to work in. Idk if they have a Reddit community or a LinkedIn group. But you should def start by going to like a meet up, convention for c suite types. Blind is full of mostly tech swe and managers.
