Met a financial manager at Merrill Lynch which made a Compeling case. Thinking about investing with them. How do you evaluate such opportunities? Does anyone have any experience or insight about Merrill Lynch? #personalfinance #investments
Just do 3 or 4 fund portfolio and chill
Don’t pay more than 0.15% to 0.25% for management fees. These fees add up over time
What compelling case did he make? Just curious. Ask if he is a fiduciary which requires him, by law, to put YOUR interests first. If he's a broker (which most ML advisors are) then he follows the suitability standard which means he only has a duty to recommend suitable investments. Not saying all fiduciaries are always acting in the best interest of their clients but you should start with that at a minimum. Make sure he sits down with you and finds out about your financial goals, risk tolerance, and time horizon. If you are married, he should also take into account the same for your wife. He should find out when you want to retire and back into how much you need to save now to hit that goal. If you have additional questions, feel free to message me.
He’s a fiduciary if you hire him to manage your money
