Just applied at Icertis and have a screening this week. Would love to hear from anyone with experience there. Seems promising with the partnerships with Microsoft/SAP and a SoftBank investment. Curious on WLB/Comp/Culture. Thanks in advance. YOE 8 TC $210K
Not a worthwhile company to work for. 1. Management is not at all supportive or easy to reach 2. No work life balance 3. Too much work pressure 4. KT is not provided 5. They just ask to deliver results without providing the proper knowledge and say it's a paced environment you have to work in 6. Colleagues don't act like colleagues they will act like snitchers.
It's an Indian owned and run company. If you've never been a part of an Indian run company before, it goes like this: 1. Find an industry and build an app for that industry based on limited knowledge of it. 2. Find customers with some level of interest and promise to build them whatever custom thing they want just to get a deal signed. 3. Repeat step 2 until you have a completely bastardized platform stemming from short sightedness. 4. Watch the company slowly implode. This is the story of iCertis. They've been trying to go public for a few years now and it still hasn't happened because their platform is a cobbled together bastardization of custom customer asks over the years. Also, if you're not Indian you have no career advancement options, and if you are Indian, your options fall into the standard Indian Cast system.
Is there a reason you think this step #1-3 happen more often in Indian startups? Have you been at any other places? We’re they different/same?
Yes, I have personally seen this at 3 separate Indian startups, which is why I swore never to work at one again. I've also seen this at 1 non-Indian startup, but 3 other non-Indian startups where it didn't happen. Most non-Indian startups in my experience are absolutely against customer funded features, almost to a fault. But in the long run, being able to avoid the short sighted thinking is a better approach. Also, I forgot step 2.5, which is to offshore the customer feature dev work to your cheap developers in India, because you have separate US and Indian dev teams working on the same platform.
