personally i don’t think it’s a great idea. but i am not sundar pichai. if indeed there are google employees who are not performing upto mark, they should have been managed earlier and the difficult conversation should have happened earlier. so that’s no excuse. additionally i heard that it’s quota specific. this means almost certainly undeserving folks will also get put on sci. this will shatter employee morale and confidence. also seen posts of new joinees who have not even completed their onboarding training getting put on sci which is indefensible really. at worst put them in the middle ranking where most folks are. was talking to someone earlier today who joined google without formal degree and was doing well. now his manager has put him on sci because of his lack of formal education. in short sci = pandora’s box and out of this only employee-manager distrust, employee disappointment and dissatisfication and all sorts of excuses of tagging people with sci for the sake of it will come out. also office politics and one-upmanship/tussle between employees will significantly increase. what do you guys think ? hunger games ?
Google as a brand is over. Companies don't live for too long, they just become dinosaurs. Google's expiry time has come. Tech needs a new leader now.
The Metaverse 🚀
All hail our legless overlords
Meta and Amazon PIP is doubled and here you are worried about Google SCI which is still set to same % un officially. It just gives an opportunity to managers to weed out bad hires and obviously execute their personal vendetta along the way. Not something worse from other FAANG.

The end of Backdoor Roth?!
All EMs that don’t code on a regular basis should automatically be PIPped. Same goes for DS managers
Eh disagree. An EM who’s coding isn’t doing a good job managing.
Not coding but non technical EMs tend to be more political and micro managy
