grant excercise deadline for companies

i worked at a small company and left relatively recently. i sent the ceo an email that I’d like to exercise my shares. But no response for over a month. Then I sent a formal request to exercise my shares, using a template provided in the original grant contract and took them about a month to reply to that, saying they have been busy / moving offices and haven’t been able to get to sending me the paperwork to get it sorted out. i was kind of interested in selling them, if i could and did mention that, not sure sure if this is their way of delaying this. Is there a some kind of required timeframe for companies to handle these situations? What could I do? Or am i just stuck here waiting?

What does your contact say?

It doesn’t say that they’re supposed to exercise it in a reasonable timeframe

Hire a lawyer to send a letter for you, it can be a nice letter but seeing that you’ve retained counsel will light a fire under their ass.
