Companies like Google and Microsoft which has fired thousands will still be filling H1B petition for thousands to bring them in USA for year 2023. What are your thoughts on this?
Why are they doing this? To give people false hope? get the work out of them and to pull the rug from under them? Damned if you stay back home and damned if you work here.
H1b people are cheaper and it's easier to hold them
I know ethics means 💩 to corporations, but wish there were protections for employees from the stupidity of corporations and “I take full responsibility.” Just laid off a bunch of H1B visa folks and now what ? Get more folks here. It’s infuriating. But America, taking work off the backs of POC and kicking them to the curb when it comes to fairness and equity.
There is no downside for them. Its cheap to file for h1b and they can practically pay you peanuts just for the privilege of living here. And for good 3-5 years you are their pet. Then massove layoffs come on. Rinse and repeat.
Except H1Bs at any of these top tech companies cost more than Americans because they are paid the same and there's additional immigration-related costs.
I don’t think that these companies are going to file fresh h1’s to bring folks from outside. Fresh h1’s are mostly going to be filed for existing employees on opt.
This and also H1bs are highly paid as well. It's not like Google is running a sweat shop
They are not bringing people to USA. Those people are already in USA and likely has been here for years.
