Keeping it simple. I have 3 offers in hand. Please help me pick the best one. My priorities: 1. Technology 2. Better WLB 3. Job security 4. Growth opportunities Current TC: 170K YOE: 6 Cisco is currently remote. Both Equinix and Shippo are fully remote. Since polls can’t be edited, following are the TC: Cisco: 214K + 4.5% 401K contribution) Shippo: 241K Equinix: 250K + 6% 401K contribution Edit: How crazy is it that I’m leaning towards Equinix? I do need a better structured job with decent WLB. I’m single in my 30’s. Shippo’s reviews suggest that there’s a lot of work and honestly, I’m already burnt out in my current role. #SDE #bayarea
It’s blind, Google wins
Why so many votes for Google? Google’s offer is going to be in 190K range. Others are already in 150K range.
Continue with google and try other companies. These offers are not greatly larger than l3 offers.
Also, what’s the rationale for voting for Shippo? The company may not go public in the next 3-4 years. If I plan to leave the company sooner, stock options won’t amount to anything major.
Option is good. You can keep the common shares as long as pay the strike price. But 7000 shippo share only worth 200k, so your package is 240k at most -- which is the highest among your offers. But google l3 can be very close to 240k in the first year, they have 10k 401k match, sign on, 33% vest in the first year, better health/life insurance. No to mention the huge brand difference.
Equinix is around 248K. I’m surprised that most people didn’t pick that one. Okay now Google makes sense.
I don’t get it, why L3 at G with 6 YOE?
Why the obsession with Google on blind? I’d be neutral to Google offers under normal case, but if they dare to low ball me or down level I guarantee you I’ll immediately throw that offer in toilet and release a load on top.
Put annual TC for each choice
Are you in a particular networking domain and not general SWE? Google might give you the opportunity to increase your breadth if that’s the case. I haven’t voted.
Wow that trend really seems to have caught on
Which Cisco BU?
