Uber Data Scientist 2 Offer (India)
Hi Everyone, I interviewed with Uber recently, and this is what they've initially offered (verbally): Base: 33.2 L (excluding PF) Variable: 5.85 L Stocks: $29k USD (vested over 4 years) Current Comp (Remote as of now): Base: 28.5 L (including PF) Variable: 2.85 L Stocks: $31k USD (vested over 3 years) Have no competing offers currently. I think, it's on the lower end of the spectrum, and have to relocate for this opportunity. Any idea what's the typical compensation range for L4 level? YOE: 5.5 years Edit1: Negotiated a bit and here's new offer: Base: 39.05 L (excluding PF) Variable: 5.85 L Stocks: $36k USD (vested over 4 years) #tech #datascience #offer #comparison
I was offered a L4 DA role at Uber in 2021 with pretty much the same numbers. Looks like they are low balling you given its DS but they usually won’t budge unless you have competing offers

Hmm, I have a slightly different take compared to what others are saying. The offer is undoubtedly a poor one. However, I feel that you should take it given you don't have any competing offers. You can continue your job search even post offer acceptance. OP : how many years of experience do you have?
Not gonna accept it at this comp for sure. I've 5.5 years of experience. Any idea, what's the typical comp I can expect?
I work as a DS Mgr in one of the Indian B2C companies. I think that for a DS role, for L2 position with your experience band, the comp is at par. However, this is definitely not the salary one expects from a top tier B2C company like Uber. That being said, there are definite benefits of having a good brand on your salary, especially earlier on in one's career
How about the new negotiated offer? Does this look good now?
Any thoughts on the offer? Also, have heard that Uber Data scientists don't do ML much. Can someone please confirm?
wow uber used to give 70L+ offers for L4… market is crap I think

I think 70L+ would be for SWE. For data scientists, it would be relatively lower.
