If you used Instagram in the last year or so and read the comments of a big account’s post, you probably saw some bots posting unrelated and odd comments (photo below). Those bots are fake accounts with photos of girls in bikini and try to drive traffic towards their profile so, at one point, people click in the link in their bio and get scammed for paying for fake sexual content online (or to meet Sabrina living 2 miles away). We see those bots on Instagram since more than a year so why they don’t get banned automatically? It’s not like fb couldn’t make a model to automatically flag them, or just make something up so we don’t see them anymore. With no data to backup my thoughts, I wouldn’t be scared to say that anybody above 14-15yo has already see too many scams adds on pornographic website to know those accounts are scams but what about younger teenagers? We know that kids are getting sooner and sooner (in term of age) on social medias so imagine all the kids that would see those bots and get scammed? Why Instagram hasn’t been doing something yet? Too busy shipping bad UX or building shit marketplace feature?
