Zalando Offer Evaluation

Zalando Offer : Berlin, 68k + Relocation Package for C6 , Mid Level Backend Dev YoE: 6 Current CTC: 21 LPA 🥜 (in India) Please share your input on whether it would be wise to take up this offer. A few points to consider: 1. I work at a place with no growth and learning. 2. Leetcode was an alien language to me 5 months back. Can solve LC easy and 40% LC mediums now. Still a lot to do. Same with system design 3. Aspire to work out of India but don't want to live miserably just for the sake of it. My thoughts : 1. Drop the offer, continue my prep, and try FAANG/other top firms after a couple of months. 2. Or Join Zalando and have first-hand experience in building and owning things (I have worked in WITCH organizations throughout) and try switching after a year or two. My Resume is not very strong in terms of showcasing big names and admirable work. So I don't have a lot of calls from good orgs and hence not a lot of options to choose from. Please provide your valuable inputs. Thanks. #Zalando #Relocation #Germany #tech @Zalando

Check rent and tax for Berlin. 68k is low as per Germany standard. Go if you want to explore and not from financial pov.

Agreed. Zalando sort of lowballed me and not having another competitive offer puts me in a tough spot to negotiate. My Indian TC is also sh*t so I really won't lose anything by moving and might gain the necessary growth to make the big jump is what I am thinking. Thanks for your input though.

LinkedIn. Recruiter reached out after a couple of days.

Zalando has been in a really bad state for quite a while, they will probably have more layoffs soon.

Their share values are not that great but kinda stable is what I understood. Also , they seem to be hiring quite a lot as I noticed a few more new positions on LinkedIn yesterday. The recruiter also spoke about this aspect and mentioned things are stable compared to what's happening outside but obviously I should do my due diligence before taking a call. Thanks for your input.

Recruiter's job is to recruit, they obviously will advocate for the company they are hiring for. Also, in reality they might not know anything and in fact are the first to be hit during a layoff wave. So, what recruiters tells doesn't mean much.
