I passed the first tech screen for a MLE position. Recruiter called me to say that feedback is positive but there is a hiring freeze at the moment, does anyone know something about this freeze?#software
I think they just found better candidates that passed the onsite interview, and they don't want me to pass them for nothing exactly what happened with me for Amazon, succeded in two technical screens and couldn't pass the onsite because they filled the role :/
When did it happen to you for Amazon?
November 2022
Literally the same things has happened to me. Recruiter called to say things are looking good. Did they say that they will reach out to you once the freeze ends?
They said they will reach out next week if the role is still open, and the fact that I passed the tech screening will help in the future so I already understand that it's over :/
I think all Big Tech companies are on unannounced hiring freeze. May be hiring very selectively.
There is no overall freeze. Maybe the specific role you interviewed for is frozen though. Sometimes teams lose or freeze their specific roles.
It’s happened before where there is a freeze and they don’t communicate it internally for a while. Could be that here again too. Freezes are always role specific, sometimes it’s just that it covers every role.
That is true. However, I am confident there is no org level or company wide freeze at the moment.
