Creating a separate thread to track the any progress on this topic for this week. 1. All things point to next set of critical roles (definition varies - could be level, specialty, revenue generation or urgent need) to come out of freeze sometime this week. 2. As of now, earliest start dates still seem to be dated in Q4. It would be great to know if anyone (regardless of level, role, etc.) have received offers after the freeze kicked in and please post any useful updates provided by your recruiters. Just to standardize the format of information sharing, I urge everyone to follow this format: My Situation: Role/Level: Principal Architect (L7) Team & Location: GCP (Bay area) Last stage cleared: HC, TM done. Stuck in last stages of compensation negotiation when freeze started. Next step: Hope the freeze lifts and position exists to continue to offer letter stage. Please refer here for this history of this thread. https://www.teamblind.com/post/jwx8XnW2

The man I love hates me because I’m Vietnamese
How’s L4 headcount looking? I had just matched with a team before they paused everything.
My recruiter told me that business is still prioritizing needs and they're looking for guidance in the few weeks. I also matched at L4, I take it that since I haven't been told that the team lost headcount that maybe things can be okay.
Amazon and Microsoft - Which role?
Role/Level: L6 SWE EM Team & Location: GCP Seattle Last stage: Verbal offer discussed but not confirmed, because the freeze hit. Have an update call and will reply to my own post if there’s any actual news to share. Recruiter seemed bullish on her getting an update tomorrow but this would be the third time now I’ve felt this way 😅 Edit: No update and recruiter has no idea when I'd expect to hear at this point.
Riot, i have been seeing your posts. Weren't you waiting for L7 EM or am i mistaken?
I’m currently an L7 equivalent (riots numbers are different but I manage ICs + 2 managers) is maybe what you’re thinking? but no, waiting for L6 EM at G. I have relatively low YOE (10) so I don’t see it as a downlevel personally.
Google isn't in 100% hiring freeze. People have been given offer in last 1 month. Data from reliable source.
No megacorp with >150k employees will have 100% hiring freeze. Obviously critical roles will still be filled. What is still open and who is still getting offers is the bigger question
I think we’re freezing hiring just for a ex-Amazon ;)
Makes sense, Google employees never wanted to work, so makes sense you don't want to hire people that actually work.
Nah ex-Amazon leadership exhibits toxic behavior everywhere they go, doesn’t have to do with work ethic
L3/L4 T&S Analyst. Role was closed but waiting to hear if headcount is a available in team or org
what do you mean by the role was closed? Did you already reach TM or HC?
TPM (L4/L5) Europe. Passed HC and got a team. Then pause… Will reply here if I get something this week. 🤞
L4 SWE ML with positive feedback waiting for HC to resume
Same boat, good luck to us all
Did you the L4 ML SWE panel? I did the L5 ML SWE but curious when they finalize level, after HC I assume. I matched team and am waiting for HC.
L3 SRE. HC done, TM done and got verbal offer. Waiting for news around hiring re-prioritizations
This is systems or software SRE? Location?
Systems? How long did the whole process take?
L4 SWE Bay Area. Passed on-site. Waiting for HC and TM.
How do you know you passed on-site without HC?
AFAIK not everyone gets submitted to HC. It is possible to not even make it to HC if you did poorly enough for your recruiter to not even submit you to HC. Which is what I meant here. Passed on-site, as in - positive enough to make it to HC.
I don’t understand why you’d be so eager to move to a company which is undergoing a hiring freeze. By definition business is not booming.
Especially Google cloud that's threatened its sales team with layoffs soon as next quarter.
I imagine L7 comp at G vs AMZN is drastically different. Regardless of if it’s gonna be booming in the next year or not, if it’s a 5+ year stint, who cares? Pip/layoff game is tremendously different at L5+ especially within engineering.
