BREAKING: Internal sources confirm another round of layoffs just hit emails at Tesla. For real.
i am new to bay area and office in redwood city . i wanted to get some insights into where to live which are fun to live jn and commute is not long and rents are reasonable. some people at work said san mateo , sf etc. i can also get a cal train pass.
Palo Alto, Mountain View Redwood City is good as well if you are not worried about schools
Heard Palo Alto and Mountain view are expensive ?
True
Anything a reasonable distance is expensive
daly city is where it's at
Pfff yeah if you want to live inside of a cloud 🤣
San Mateo is probably the best compromise. San Mateo is a decent size. You can go into the city if you want on Caltrain. Your commute wouldn't be long. You could live in Redwood City, but it's pretty far from San Francisco. San Francisco is an option, but the commute wouldn't be great and the weather is better in the peninsula.
What is your situation? Single? Married? Kids? TC?
What does TC mean?
Total compensation
Single , TC 250
In that case you don’t have to worry about expenses and schools. Look for commute and. Nice areas for singles. Palo Alto , Mountain View and San Mateo seems to be good
Thank you so much!
I would agree. Palo Alto has more going on than San Mateo, but is also more expensive. I lived in San Mateo/Burlingame/Foster City for a long time, and found it not only a very nice area to live in general but a pretty easy commute to almost anywhere, certainly anywhere on the Peninsula. I would not live in Foster City again, though, just because it’s built on landfill.
Somebody recommended East Palo Alto as an cheaper alternative to Palo Alto
It’s cheaper but not safer. Also not great place for singles.
San Mateo
