I got an offer from toronto, what does the current work visa process look like. just trying to estimate the time for my relocation. apply from US, indian citizen PS: work visa , not express entry *company tranferring me to toronto office
Two weeks. No quotas so available through the year.
Takes 1 year to become a PR 2 years to apply for citizenship 1 year to receive citizenship + passport
6 months if applying under Express Entry 730 days to renew your PR 1095 days on PR to apply for citizenship (each day on WP is counted as half)
I had already applied for my PR, AOR date July 26. Security hasn’t even started and my visa expires in 2months from now, that’s why company is apply for a work visa
OP need more info. Is it an intracompany transfer? If the the answer is "yes" then 2 weeks + 1-2 weeks to get stamp at consulate or embassy. If it is a closed LMIA based work permit then can take 2-3 months or more (depends on visa office you get assigned vergreville, Montreal and Mississauga being the worst)
Thanks for your response, since I didn’t get my h1 last three years my company is transferring me to Toronto. I’m a sr. Swe and I’m not sure about LMIA
But same US company is transferring you to Canada or you found a different employer in Canada? If the same company 2+2 weeks. As SWE falls under specialist occupation.
Same company, will be the first employee for the business unit.
Cool all the best! Welcome to Canada, help us write the next chapter in technology history :-)
Are they doing prenium processing?
Not sure if IRCC has such a service for processing work permits, similar to USCIS PP for H1b. If there is I've never heard of it. The only expedite service is if you qualify for Global Skill Strategy. Don’t think there’s anything as such
Dude, I am also in process of getting work permit. It's 4 months processing time. I already spent 2 months waiting for it. If you want it instantly, go to border and do flagpoling, they will process it then and there. But then you have chances of rejection
Hi could you explain this a bit more, I think it would benefit the wider community looking for similar transition.
I looked it up more, turns out flagpoling is option for USA passport holders only. Or someone who is already in Canada. I guess for OP, as he has foreign passport, it won't work. Sorry, can't explain more, if someone wants to see what is it more info is :- https://www.settler.ca/english/flagpoling-work-permit-canada/ I don't want someone to be in trouble at border, best way is to call Canadian border agents and ask about, is it possible to apply for work permit at border for *insert* natianal
My login showed sept 7 as date of decision but I'm still waiting for PR card
Not taking about express entry, asking about work visa
