What happens when most of your team is Indian?
heard my new grad friends at fb saying that if they dont get promotions in 1.5 years they are out. others at google say that they need to wait for at least 2 years for a promotion. is that true? i thought Facebook and google are similar companies.
At Fb, you have 33 months at E4 to get to E5. At E3, same or a little less. It’s very doable to get to E5 in <4y, after that it depends on your influence/projects/org so I can’t answer for sure. In any case, Fb >> G at promotion speed
>> as in it’s faster or it takes longer?
Faster
What are the chance of getting into a non toxic team at FB?
Just dont pick indian or chinese manager
Good luck finding such a team in Silicon Valley.
if you're white or asian male 5-7 years from l3 to l5 if you're a woman or a minority 3-4 years
Wtf
At Google half of L3s get promoted by 2 years, and most by 3 years. It takes longer for higher levels.
What about L4s and L5s?
Median time to promotion is 3 years for L4 to L5 and 4-5 years for L5 to L6. This statistic counts people who have left as not promoted, so the median time would be lower for people who don't leave. (But not counting people who left would be survivorship bias.)
