expecting an offer for a product role at SoFi, evaluating if thats a good move. heard mixed reviews about the company and current covid situation, can someone confirm how is it like working there, culture, wlb, future prospects etc. current Tc= $400k new tc= no discussion yet yoe= 9
Are they hiring H1Bs for product roles?
Did you end up getting an offer? Tbh, the product org can still be a little chaotic which is a reflection of Assaf's leadership style. Everyone in product is also either a principal product manager or a director of product which is also strange to me and doesn't match eng. I'm not sure it it was a way to get around pay bands or what. As far as culture, I really enjoy it. I don't work more than 40 hours a week, and we will all be working from home for the foreseeable future. SoFi also values people who are collaborative and for the most part doesn't tolerate assholes. Anthony Noto also has a pretty ambitious vision for the future of the company, so we will probably either explode with growth or peter out. The vision is to sell a whole fintech stack and to be a fintech platform similar to what AWS is for web services, as well as a full service digital bank. Everything is also split up into product verticals and business units, which means you can iterate fast on your team, but coordination and cohesiveness in our app experience is still sometimes a challenge. The turnover with designers has also been pretty high.
"SoFi also values people who are collaborative and for the most part doesn't tolerate assholes." Except Assaf?
How’s the business org doing in SoFi in general? Their recruiter and hiring manager doesn’t seem to care much about getting people in the pipeline as my meeting has been pushed like 2-3 times out.
Hey pinl, did you take the role at SoFi? What level was it (principal, director, etc)?
Glad I didn't refinance my student loan with them. Can't beat the zero % interest right now.
