i have a simple feature to design (an ROI Calculator for a bank) wires/flows are done. i just need to do visual design and maybe fox up some UI elements. how mich should i charge if i am not going the hourly base?
5K minimum - banks have deep pockets and this seems marketing related. Their budgets for contract work can be unreal.
Why not 50k then?
You’ve already done the work but you haven’t gotten them to agree to an estimate yet...?
On a more helpful note, how long did it take you to do the work you’ve completed? And how long do you estimate it’ll take you to do the work yet to complete? Add on some time for admin things, and let’s say 2 rounds of revisions, multiply that by your usual hourly rate and that’s what you should charge them.
Take a guess at your hours and X it by $100-140/hour. Then add or reduce that based on how quickly they want it :) Maybe 2-4K without knowing much more?
15k sounds reasonable. It also depends on the bank and your execution.
If they’re charging $100/hr that’s like 150 hours of work. For any calculator I can’t imagine it would take that long. Even at $500/hour that’s 50 hours. Seems very very high, maybe if you’re doing all the UX too?
License some design aspects to major design firms.
Note my comment about 15k being pennies, my point is as a freelancer the 15k seemed high. But maybe not. Not enough info to reasonably answer.
