i got a couple from different companies in SF. all of them were in the 220-230k range. how can I get to 300k in the next couple years? I currently have about 4 YOE and a bachelors degree. I am on a H1B. Should I try to become an engineering manager? get a green card? get a masters degree? increase my YOE? what are the most important things to get over 300K TC?
Get a senior engineer offer from Facebook, google, lyft, uber, etc.
Start working at whatever level and work your way up???
Promoted employee will get always less than external hire for the same position. Loyalty doesnât pay off.
^ yeah so lame, and they wonder why there is high attrition rate!
300 in the bay is pretty easy. All big companies pay that to either a high performer E4 or a an average E5 (senior). Just LC and get in.
I got 3 offers, 2 from unicorns...they can't even match my current TC at 220K...who the hell is paying 300K for high performing L4s outside of FAANGWULLA?
FAANGULALALALAAA
Graduate college and work a year.
You just need to Lc like crazy or be a staff level engineer that has domain expertise. Many big tech companies here will pay 300k tc at that level
Get fang job, work hard
Need higher level. For that need more yoe...
Op has 4 yoe and is asking for how to get to 300k in 2 more years. At 6 yoe, 300k isnât unusual at all
Just avoid Amazon and Microsoft. Many others can provide it before you hit 6 yoe.
Not true. Amazon does pay 300k+ for <6 yoe
Deduct 15k from Amazon. Health insurance premium + very high deductible + very low 401k match. Yeah you can make over 300k if you get a senior but it doesnât happen often before hitting 6 years.
