I’m an intern and I don’t like my team at all. For me going to work everyday is a pain. I’m not saying anyone did anything wrong and I guess it’s just not a good fit. Didn’t get good mid point feedback. I feel like instead of working hard to get that return offer I should just leetcode ... Honestly I really regret choosing lyft and I am feeling pretty damn bad now. I want to go to work at 12 and leave at 5 everyday does it sound ok?
First world problems. Have u tried talking to your mentor or manager about the issues?
tbh I find them really scary. I tried, and it seems like they don’t understand and it looks like that I’m the whining beach
....yea def leetcode at work there. Hate managers like that
You should work hard at work and build good references. Lyft is a high profile company and I’m sure future employers will want to get a reference from them
Yeah. It is called “work” for a reason (all the other four letter words were taken). I am wondering if you should suck it up and learn some valuable lessons about being part of a functional team. Of course you did pick a company that loses $0.50 on every dollar it brings in. What were you thinking when you thought about that fact? Being cash flow positive is important.
What did your feedback say?
sorry I don’t want to share it here bc lyft doesn’t have that many interns and people from my team might possibly see it.
Hmm, leetcode premium should include skinned versions that look like other applications like jira 🤔
Check out the Leetcode extension for VS Code
Being a good fit is impossible to guarantee. You're lucky to be just an intern with no commitments. Don't be afraid, its a lost cause. You're not leaving heaven, its just a shitty team. Take your laptop away and leetcode for atleast an hour during work, pretend you are in a meeting or something. Also, open up LC on your phone and lookup problems so you can atleast think about them during the day or in meetings and such. If you can, its possible to do LC on the phone. During university I used to code LC on my 4.5" phone, and in C++! Imagine how much time was wasted finding the <> symbols.
Also consider going to a local coffee shop during lunch with your laptop
12 to 5 sounds good to me
Sounds like you have little common sense if you’re asking Blind when you can work. You should just observe when your coworkers are working and copy that. If they’re not working as late as 12 p.m. then why would you do that and make yourself stand out. It sounds like you’re not performing well and they wrote a bad review so now you’re considering leetcoding during work. Maybe you should just take the work experience and pick yourself up.
lmao I did fairly well last summer at FAANG. I think the reason this is not going well is my mentor & manager make me hate work
Ok then do whatever you want lmao. Come in 12 sharp kiddo
Do. Not. Leetcode at work! I’d suggest while you’re at that place, try and use the company resources to your benefit, find out what other teams are working on, what’s your infra like, figure out the whole stack of your project/application in depth. Read up any tech documents internal to the company, etc.. You can always leetcode later after your gig, but if you get your next Job via leetcode way, then I’m pretty sure this scene’s gonna repeat then as well.
I agree...that's what an internship should be..go and network with Lyfts engineering team and other teams, do small projects with them, get the bigger picture and that will shine in your resume and be super useful at interviews for FT jobs.. do leetcode in your own time.. getting real world experience matters especially if you are in a reputable organization..

If you can get your work done at that time, sure.
I will sure to try my best to finish the project .... I’m just saying they can’t do anything about me since I will be gone in 4 weeks right.
I think that is not a good way to view the situation. If you were to work with anyone within your team at a different company, you're already at a bad start. Honestly, just try to get your work done within those 5 hours and Leetcode at a conference room for another 1-2 hours to get what you want without looking like you're slacking.
