I managed to find a new employer whom I trust. Since I resigned at Amazon and I was not pipped some of the management and specialists are unhappy that I leave. They all cherished my knowledge and the high standards I was operating at. The level of stress and the massive toxicity I had to endure has really kept its toll on me. I am trying to close this chapter of my life, but somehow I feel I should have known that this could happen at this company. Are there any coping mechanisms how to leave this all behind by also keeping my sanity?
Honestly, 3-4 sessions with a good therapist would probably help you think through that experience and get your head right about it. Probably worth it so you’re not bringing that energy into a new place - which might operate very differently.
This is Stockholm Syndrome.
"They all cherished my knowledge and the high standards I was operating at" doesn't correlate with "the level of stress and the massive toxicity I had to endure"
OP is referring to the people upset about him leaving when they say “all”. The toxicity could come from people outside of that.
narrator: they gave zero fracks about them. they cherished all the work they could offload on this individual.
I was going through the same earlier. Having an experience like that just makes you more vigilant in future and make better decisions.
Take a break and relax. Appreciate the good stuff like you learnt alot
Take a few weeks off between jobs if possible
Nobody is expected to stay at a company for life. It’s your career and your life. Do what’s right for you. Make sure you don’t burn bridges on your way out.
There is a lot to digest in this post OP. Mostly, some therapy for Amazon delivered PTSD would be my recommendation. Don’t place too much trust in any employer going forwards too, as its just a business relationship in both directions. Build your resume and skillset so that it is highly marketable and portable.
Time. It takes time. This will help: Pursue your neglected hobbies and interests now that you have time.
