i had a great phone interview where i solved all the problems. the 2 coding rounds in onsite went really well. i was able to write efficient & clean code. the behavior round too went well where we discussed about my recent projects. the design round is where i screwed up. the problem was a very small area in front end where i have zero experience. i was able to discuss few possibilities but i myself not convinced. i was interviewed on last Tuesday. haven't heard back from recruiter. but i kind of know the result. mostly rejection or down level if it matters.. current tc: 320
Me too :( applied for a Tpm role.. The phone interview went great, and the recruiter shared good feedback on all components including technical.. In the on-site, The 2 system design interviews went well. But the behavioral with the hiring manager didn’t go so great.. seemed like she wasn’t happy with my examples..also worried that since they are just looking for E5s, maybe my examples came across too junior/trivial. What do y’all think about the weightage of that? And am I still eligible to apply to other TPM roles internally if I passed the system design ones or no?
1. Was the phone interview had video to turn on? Can you share the questions? 2. Can you also share the format and question types for onsite?
More or less felt the same as you on my coding rounds and design. I felt my design solution worked but may not be what the interviewer was expecting, and turned out more product than system design
What was the outcome?
Waiting to hear back, had it this past Friday
@OP was it virtual interview/onsite? what was your thought process in deciding to continue with virtual onsite as one may feel uncertain and like a guinea pig due to it being new? i have an onsite invite at FB and google for a few months now just before the covid hit, but i just feel that virtual onsite and interviewers are just too unbaked and uncertain as of now about it.
It was virtual. I was originally not in favor of virtual on-sites. But the reality is that there won't be any physical on-sites this year. I did not feel any difference between virtual & onsite atleast for coding & behavior rounds. May be design round could have been better at on-site.
Do they have camera on and see each other through video during all sessions in virtual on-site at FB and Google?
At Least you’re at google
Got an update from the recruiter that he got all the feedback from interviewers and he asked availability for sync up.
That's pretty quick, they've been saying 2 weeks recently. Let us know how it goes
I have few pending offers and i informed about it to recruiter.
Should’ve bought the Tech Leads prep program to get into FB
Yeah, I hear he’s a millionaire...and he lives with his parents...for FUN.
He’s a millionaire and his wife left him
What kind of response are you hoping for here? Just venting?
Just venting
What part of the frontend? Product Design interview or System Design? What position (fullstack, infrastructure)?
I was interviewed for general swe. Sorry can't go into more details about what part of front end.
