Chinese coworker complained about my rising sun shirt?
I need some honest opinions about working for Goldman Sachs as a software engineer. How is the work? WLB? Culture? Worth joining? #goldmansachs #softwareengineer
I wanted to quit everyday, lost some hair, then went to be a metamate.
SAME
Is being a metamate better (ignoring TC and free food)?
It's not that bad
What do you like about GS?
It's a stable company that has been profitable every year irrespective of external/market conditions and also pays decently to employees. They usually give sufficient ramp up time to new joiner, annual bonuses are generally good in most divisions, work/tech stack for SWEs can be hit or miss depending on team. It all boils down to the other options you have, if any. It's all relative.
Don’t
Shit show!
It is a decent choice depending on your goals. I would pick GS over Amazon. I would not pick it over Google. Here are my reasons.. Depending on the team, you can work on important projects that will propel your career. GS shows more care to its people than Amazon. There are PIPs but far less than Amazon. Compensation can rival Amazon. Exit opportunities within the Finance industry are better. This works to your advantage if you are in NY or London.
Do you have specific reason why you would pick GS over Amazon? What do you like about GS?
Been at both and don’t think GS can match what amazons paying these days.
Every experience at GS boils down to teams. Engineering teams in GS are like mini startups
If it's a front office tech team than definitely join it
I guess you will have a lot of chance to learn in the front office team, but the work load will be a lot?
depends mostly on team size and geographic distribution. But yes u will learn and earn good
I think it can be an amazing place to learn if you are in a good team. I spent 8 very good years there but have decided to move on
So you are saying it really depends on the team? May I ask which team you were in?
Too small of a team to say without doxxing myself. I got a sense of how competent they were by the interviews. I was very impressed
All depends on the team, but that goes for any large company. My team is full of brilliant people and senior management supports the organization I'm in as critical to the firms success.
@vjyge85 can you pls dm. Need some inputs regarding GS. I am out of DMs
Have you got any other options? If not is it worth discussing rather than just finding out
