Amazon 2+ years and still sde 1 vs Sixt SDE 2
Current company: Amazon Current role: SDE 1 Total YOE: 4+ (2.5 in Amazon as FTE, 0.5 was maternity leave) Current ctc: 24 lpa, where 15.5 fixed + 8.5 lakh stock (4 stocks were vested in 2020, same in 2021) Sixt role: SDE 2 Offered CTC: 32 (25.5 fixed + rest are fixed additional money after completing 1 yr). Manager said he is targeting this year to get me promoted. However, after 4 yoe, I feel i cannot just wait on his word. You must have a decent vest coming in year 4 as well. Factor that in during negotiations as well. Look for other companies with a better TC. Also tell recruiter's you are SDE-2 in Amazon, quote their Tc so you can max your offer. It's quite believable at 4YOE with 2.5 in Amazon..
Amazon doesn't care about external experience in promo. And SDE 1 to 2 takes anywhere between 1.5 to 3 years
True. I see my friends in other orgs getting promo in <2 yrs, it's so depressing.
Sixt is a dogshit company compared to amzn. Moreover, the car rental business has been devastated by covid and won't come back until travel esp business travel comes back, so joining sixt may stymie your growth long term. DM for MS referral.
