what are yall ADI’s folks take on it?
I keep hearing it will be a buyout eventually.. but if it's just a stock deal its gonna be a while before we see any effects
What do you mean? Why is it going to be a while to see the effects? I don’t understand
I'm pretty new to Maxim. But looks like BU's strategy won't change too soon I think. Just a guess
What do you do at Microsoft?
Did you have just bachelors or masters?
Making a switch to PM at FAANG from semis is a major challenge.
I guess first you have to be a PM in semis.
I was an engineer in Maxim (a successful one :) ) Decided to get my MBA and switch to product management in software industry. I'm now making >2x of what I was making in Maxim. I can assure you, you'll make more money but also work a lot harder
Atleast maxim people will get better pay. They have one of the worst pays
Lol.. I get better pay than intel for sure. ADI has the worst pay. Surely my pay is going to reduce smh
LoL. I worked at Intel for a while. I know the pay scales, culture and how well teams work with each other. Maxim pays much better, actually cares for employees, their career development.
Wow. Love ADI!
Curious what was your level for TC 450K?
I have heard a couple of times people say that Analog is the worst in terms of talent. I worked there many years ago, and they have the best analog designers in the industry, certainly better than the ones at Apple and Google. ADI had managed to keep great profit margins selling analog circuits for industrial and medical, so saying that the industry is dead is just ignorant. People also say that analog designers in general are wise paid, but that has certainly not been my experience. There are less jobs, but also very few people, so it is hard to hire and it pays well. - an analog designer . TC 450k
You TC is significantly high because of Apple sky high stonk appreciation. What’s your YOE? Except for Apple, there is no other company in Analog that pays even half of what your TC is. In the words of our CEO, in regards to the merger. "I see an industry beyond its growth years and becoming increasingly difficult to grow beyond nominal levels". Yes, if you are working at Apple, you should be fine. Because of the consolidation, the opportunities are dwindling rapidly at traditional semis. This industry is becoming a commodity sort of business with very slow growth.
Yes, my TC went up significantly at Apple, although half is not a realistic number for my previous experiences. I have 13 yoe now. When I left my previous company at 10 yoe I had a TC at 315k. When I left the one before that at 6 yoe my TC was 200kb and it was a startup were all the options were worthless, so it could have been higher than that if things had gone well. I've left ADI with 3yoe making 125k TC, but that was 10 years ago, in the middle of the great recession and with 3 yoe, so not a very fair comparison. Pay is lower than SW, no one is arguing the opposite, but you can make good money in the industry, and I also feel that people that day things like digital is eating analog do not understand how things work, analog designers have greatly benefited from the digital revolution and continue to do so.
ADI is laying off folks this week. This is a scary time to be chip designer.
Good question.. will there be any perks for Maxim employees in these transitions? Or we're just the goats while management gets the sweets ??
I feel this is a shit deal because it’s not a buyout, but a stock offer smh
If ADI stock tanks, our stock also tanks with it during the duration of the deal
