I am in a bit of a dilemma. I am in talk with Google recruiter for scheduling onsite interview. He mentioned that I can pick “General SWE” style interview or “iOS” style interview. iOS interview would consist of 4 rounds of iOS related questions and one round of whiteboard coding. Now I got call from him stating that they can’t find anyone who knows Swift at Google to interview me. My only other choice would be Java for whiteboarding. And he mentioned, since I can only pick one language for the interview I have to code in Java on iOS. Which is not possible since there are only two languages on iOS platform. What should I do? I practiced a lot with Swift and now have to pick either Java or Objective-C. :( Are there really no Swift programmers at Google? Should I take risk picking Java? ( I know Java but I am bit rusty on it and it’s pretty verbose for whiteboards)
pass on the recruiter to me please :)

Just tell him you can wait until they have someone who knows Swift. Shouldn’t even matter I’ve interviewed people in languages I didn’t know it’s a matter of fundamentals and thought process.
