Does Tesla Y worth its money?

I have a BMW X3M and an old VW Golf 2017. Like to upgrade the VW to an electric car and looking at Tesla Y with some trade in offers. Does it worth (Tesla Y) its money? Any Tesla Y owners that can comment! IC5 TC 760k (several GEs performances back to back)

I love my Y, but I wouldn't know how it compares to your other cars.

Every Tesla is a piece of crap. That company is going down the toilet also

How many have you owned? Tesla is the rational choice. There is nothing else that can match its value. If you love cars you will probably get something else. Just like if you love watches you will not get a Casio.

Feel like this is heavily about personal preference. We recently swapped ours out with Mercedes EV, somehow the Tesla always felt very basic. If you love the software aspect of it, Tesla is better, but if you want the traditional car things there are other options. I like driving and always felt Tesla was trying to do too much without involving me.

I like ours (7 seat), gives flexibility for when we need to carry more people around Can’t compare to your other cars obviously but I do think if you’re set on an EV Tesla is the way to go. It’s still somewhat of a curiosity for other manufacturers. Tesla is all in, has the biggest charging network, focused on making it work and continually upgrading software. EVs can’t be as high of a strategic priority at say Kia. Would be like wanting a smartphone in 2010 and decided between Apple and some random manufacturer entering the smartphone market

Having driven a mach-e, a lightning and now a mercedes ev, dont think this take is 100% true. Tesla certainly leads on software, but there are some high quality EVs on the market that drive super well and are reliable. A level 2 charger at home, solves the charging problem for good too for most use cases. Also the 7 seat model Y is a joke man, the seats at the back are like in the trunk. That’s what we had and almost never used it. I like the model X but that’s in the Rivian price range!

Meta WGFP35 Mar 11

Yeah we don’t use the 7 that often, but have kids and makes carting family around easier when they’re in town. I’m not saying teslas are the best car on the market but there is low risk it’s ever going to shift priorities, and that gives me more confidence that I’ll own the car for a while. I see all these other brands touting their EVs and I feel like it’s movie studios announcing their big shiny streaming services 5 years ago all over again. i.e. could abandon it at any point

dude spend a fraction of a fraction of your tc on learning English heck you can even learn for free

Meta jvpap OP Mar 10

Thanks mate. Quite irrelevant to my post but I will follow your advice. Honestly some dudes at Blind are toxic and racist to its magnitude. Regarding my TC I think I have the right to do whatever I like with it. Learning English, buy a car, go to Vegas. I think I can decide without you here

I love mine, just wish I'd leased instead of bought - I missed out on the Federal tax incentives because my income is too high. Also, the depreciation is awful, it would make more sense to buy used if you're not leasing.

Amazon lakfb6 Mar 10

It's definitely a much more attractive car at current prices and if you can get the tax credit.

Google jktldr Mar 10

Hubspot, do you mean you would have gotten the tax incentive if you leased?

Get the Model Y, new ones are really good build quality compared to other cars at same price range. Cheapest Mercedes EQB or Audi q4 etron will cost around 60-65k and both are trash compared to model Y. Ioniq5 , fisker and ID4 have more issues than features. Ev6 and ipace are joke looking cars . So only other good options out there are bmw ix, Rivian r1s, Audi q8 etron or bmw i4 — all of them are super expensive for what you get.

What’s the itch for getting an EV, Tesla or not.

Pinterest iiiio Mar 10

To avoid polluting the air around you and waking up to a full tank of gas (charge) is nice. ICE cars are becoming obsolete.

Nice! Another victim of mainstream media and one of papa Elon’s followers. Every single company in automotive is having a hard time selling EVs and recovering their massive investments. Demand is low, cost is high. Operational cost is high. Elon sold the swanky dream to the Corolla, Accord, Camry drivers. Can you also educate me on the waste the batteries are creating? Good for the environment? Look beyond air pollution. And once in accident EVs are declared total loss and not repairable. I am honestly open to learning about the perspective you have and I am missing.
