Law Firm recommendation in Seattle - Action Against Amazon

I have been working at Amazon for over two years but had to take a medical leave last year. I was being paid by the Washington Paid Family & Medical Leave; however, my benefits with the WA Paid Family & Medical Leave exhausted in January. I notified Amazon and I was supposed to start receiving 60% of my monthly paycheck from Amazon. I received documentation from Amazon confirming that my Medical Paid Leave was approved; nonetheless, I have not received a single payment from Amazon. To make matters worse, Amazon canceled all my health insurance without notifying me or explaining why. I only found that out when I went to see one of my doctors. I first thought that was a mistake, but got the confirmation when I received a text message from my pharmacy letting me know that they could not ship my medications since my health insurance was canceled. I have probably called Amazon over 200 times, and each person I spoke from the Leave Department, Benefit Department, Amazon Employee Assistance…could not tell me the reason why I have not been paid and/or why my health insurance have been canceled. For God’s sack, I am on approved Medical Leave and my health insurance gets canceled and I don’t get paid?! Yesterday I spend over $800 paying for some of my medications and also received a bill from UW Medicine for $630. I don’t have to tell you that I have been in tremendous distress and my physical and mental health haven worsen since all this started. Today I finally received a call from Amazon and I was told that “we dropped the ball” and that they were working on reinstating my health insurance but that it could take up to TWO WEEKS. I asked for a written notification of what had happened (“we dropped the ball”) and was told that they would not send a letter/email since I was being notified over the phone. I also asked for my payment the month of January and February that I should have received. I was told that I will be paid on March 31st and that they could not do a payment off cycle (meaning that I have to wait until the next pay period to get paid). This is beyond my comprehension. Can someone recommend a good law firm in the Seattle area that is known for stopping Amazon from acting like they are above the law? Thanks. #amazonbenefits #tech #amazonnotabovethelaw

Sounds like it was a mistake. Calm down. See if they can reimburse your additional expenses first. If they decide to not pay you at all then I'd consider seeking legal advice (first to even check if you're really entitled to any benefit).

First of all, I wouldn’t have posted here before doing all my homework. Yes, I’m 100% “entitled” to receive these benefits. I am talking here about my medical care. I am required to do weekly blood work, monthly CT scan and see my physician and his team on a weekly basis. I take at least 8 different medications daily. Thanks for the advice, but I will not “calm down”. This is my health, my life. Try to make a mistake at Amazon that will take you weeks/months to fix and tell your director to “calm down”. Let me know how that goes.

Your easier route would be to just work with .... litigation will take long time before you get anywhere and then question is, is that the right use of your energy, time..

If they catch you up. What legal ramifications are there? It’s a pain and unfortunate. But not something I can see needing a lawyer involved with. But that’s just me.

Litigation is going to cost a lot and you were mostly "made whole". You should fight to have all your OOP costs reimbursed (post tax value). If you have demonstrable pain and suffering, like your condition was materially impacted by this mistake, you can get a free consult from any employment lawyer and they will give you advice.
