#tech #cloudera Anyone know why hortonworks cofounder Arun Murthy quit effective immediately? Definitely not a normal thing.
Vesting complete?
I worked at a company that used Hortonworks on premise and their code versioning diffs were a mess even then - so many versions abound that was very hard to track . Also it was a company that felt high on its supply- not many original ideas from them . There was a time Hadoop had the same hype that ML had, they failed to capitalize on it imo.
Interesting. Is this supposition/calculated guess or do you know something others don't? I agree that from my perspective, he hasn't done a great job. But from my experience, in normal firings, execs aren't let go immediately. They're usually allowed to at least do a farewell speech or email to save face (for the company and exec). The last company I was at, the head of sales was fired effective immediately because of an alcohol problem. So I had a sneaking suspicion that there was also something sort of similarly nefarious going on here.
On August 30, 2021, the Company also announced that Arun Murthy has resigned as Chief Product Officer, effective as August 30, 2021. Mr. Murthy entered into a Separation Agreement with the Company pursuant to which, in exchange for a release of claims, he is entitled to a one-time cash severance payment of $2,120,000, less withholding obligations. https://sec.report/Document/0001628280-21-017747/
Rob was almost crying talking about ACM leaving immediately. May be the PE wanted him out asap and have the new people start working on the new strategy immediately.
It was a good riddance. Wasted enought time of company with immature decisions
What’s left for him to do after merger goes through? Smart move if it’s true what you say
