I was just approved for hire at Google (TC still unknown) and currently interviewing with DeepMind for a similar role. Assuming TC is the same for both, I’m curious which you’d prefer and why. I won’t decide strictly from this poll — just want to surface company differences to consider. Google: * Title: L4 Product Analyst * Location: Bay Area * Work: Supporting Cloud DeepMind: * Title: Senior Product Analyst * Location: London * Work: Tracking metrics for Google-integrated products (eg WaveNet) Current TC: $160k #google #deepmind
Well, first of all, you will probably get paid more at Google than Deepmind because of location There is no second of all
I was told by the DeepMind recruiters that pay is comparable to Google. Though I’m not sure if that factors in the super high UK tax rates.
Probably meant comparable to Google London salaries
Yea tc will definitely be higher at Google
Google will surely have layoff soon, I don’t know about London labor laws but given a choice I would accept both but join Deepmind and follow what’s happening at Google in Q1 and make decision from there
the pay unfortunately will not be comparable
Pick based on location
For those commenting about pay, my DeepMind recruiter said that pay is comparable (maybe a bit higher) vs Google Bay Area. Though I don’t know if that factors the difference in tax rates (UK taxes are much higher).
Apples and oranges
Comp will be similar (DM pays more but London has lower cost of living). Source: worked for Google in SF, work for DM in London now.
Op where did you go ?
London Tc is likely way lower depends where do you wanna live?
Tough to say since I’ve never lived in either area (I’m an American and grew up in the Midwest). For those that’ve experienced both London and Bay Area vibes, what are the most striking differences? I’m sure there’s a ton haha
TC in England and in Europe is not as extravagant as in the US. I have family in Europe working in tech and they are not getting paid the same as my fam/friends in tech in the US
