How did you do it? I want to know from people who were not already working for a US company willing to transfer them. I am currently an EM and want to maximise TC before I retire/fire. P.s. I dont work for Anaplan atm TC: £155k no equity, all base + bonus.
You can marry an American or take a visa sponsoring educational course and find a visa sponsoring job or find some US company with UK offices and international transfer later. …… or fly to Meh-ico to burn your documents and cross the US southern border as a ‘newcomer’ fleeing persecution (wear a nice sun dress) and ask for a flight or bus to a Sanctuary city. Work permits and hotel accommodation and monthly paychecks await whilst you job hunt.
I wouldn't have left the UK for the US if I was on 155K GBP ($195K) at the time. I was on about a quarter of that but that was a decade ago. But anyway one route is E-2 / H-1B visa --> EB-2 green card ---> citizenship
I have friends (UK citizens; many) that get h1b via postdocs where there are unlimited h1bs (after completing PhD in UK), then self sponsor for green card. I was already working in Uk office and applied for US role in company then moved on L1A, now going through employer sponsored green card application.
That’s a pretty good TC for UK. The biggest hurdle is H1B visa. Best bet is join an American company in UK or work remote for an American company and move to US on L1 or H1B. Another longer path is to go to U.S. as a student.
