Long term care insurance:WA state. Opt out or in?

For those of you who don't know, starting soon WA state will be taxing $0.58 for every $100 you earn. This includes all salary, bouses, rsus etc. So for someone with a 300k TC the tax is $1.7k vs $375 annually if they went with private insurance. 1. does anyone know if immigrants can avail this? 2. For those opting in, why? Tldr: you are better off saving $1.8k in taxes and paying $375 for private ltc insurance. The state funded LTC won't apply if you move out WA anyway. TC: 310k

I am on H1, I donā€™t see myself surviving that long in US. Question is not even surviving that long but what if I move to Bay Area ?

Letā€™s be honest. Itā€™s a way to charge income tax without calling it what it is, in a state whose constitution says it it illegal.

I don't understand why we need this when we already have private non LTC insurance. Can we just get away with this by getting the private one and cancelling?

Any idea about private LTC provider ? Will be interested to opt out of this scammy tax.

You have to buy it before 8th June to opt out from LTC in November, $350+.
