Anyone here used fundrise for real estate investing? Any reviews? If not fundrise, do you have any other recommendations for real estate investing?
I've been investing in PeerStreet based on reviews by MoneyMoustache. So far it's been good with monthly payments.
It's like a regular REIT but without the liquidity.
Could you elaborate? I'm new to this and have no idea how it works. I don't even know how REIT works
A REIT is just a company (technically a trust) that owns real estate, typically they might manage apartment communities they own. I believe they have certain tax benefits.
I'm avoiding because of inability to buy in Roth IRA. The after-tax returns are very similar to returns from REIT ETFs but with much higher risk. I'd consider them if they provided option to invest in Roth.
They do allow to buy from Roth IRA if you open a special Roth IRA with millennium trust or something, their site has the info.
I have invested with them for about 6 months now. Things look good so far in terms of quarterly payouts, but not many data points. They've become more transparent recently by clearly showing the details of your investments.
Thanks! Do you see any downside ?
Sorry, I don't have much experience to highlight the risks. I guess the risks are similar to what you would have with real-estate investments. This helps you deal with local market volatility by diversifying across multiple areas. You should be able to find good reviews online.
