I don't have specific numbers yet but my offer is for staff level. here are the rough ballpark I was given in terms of TC: - base is around 260k - yearly bonus ranges from 40k - 180k depending on performance - options @ their 2017 valuation of $2B are worth around 90k per year. I'm not sure if there is reason to believe that they are worth much more than that after tech valuations getting hammered this year. Conservatively, TC is 400k and that is including non liquid stock options. Looks like reviews of okcoin are terrible on glassdoor/blind. Everyone I spoke to during the interview process has been at the company less than a year, but I'm not sure if that's a function of okcoin being in the USA for a short amount of time or not. The work of the team I'd be joining doesn't sound super appealing either, I would be working on the payments infrastructure team using Java and the Spring framework. I've been trying to break into big tech and get one of those large TC numbers but I've struggled to move to an offer after full interview loops with several companies: amazon, databricks, amplitude, amazon, roblox, confluent and notion. I felt that for confluent, notion, amplitude and roblox 4/5 of the interviews went well but I just would hit a snag during a part of a system design or coding interview and not get an offer. The feedback I get on behavioral parts is usually good. Of course, the interview loop I knock out of the park is okcoin which is a company that has red flag after red flag and a 2.8 rating on blind. I have waymo, doordash, and square interview loops coming up in the next few days but those will probably be my only options that will be able to get back to me before the okcoin offer deadline happens, and that assumes a fast team match at doordash and square. I can probably get a TC of 500k at these companies if I level at E6, but I'm starting to think that E5 is more likely for me, especially since I didn't get an offer from any of the other interview loops I did besides okcoin. Just being realistic. I probably could hold out to get interviews at places with hiring freezes right now like linkedin, pinterest, google, meta, etc but there is no telling when those places will start hiring again. Should I run far, far away from okcoin if no other offers come in? I'm not leaving a terrible situation right now, the WLB balance is good which is why I'm able to do so many interviews. I'm rapidly losing interest in my current job though, since I've been working on the same product for about 5 years now. You’ve had a series of rejection so clearly there is room for more prep in one or more areas. Take a break, reassess and get back into it. These companies aren’t going anywhere you can push the dates around. It helps, good luck 👍🏼
I think this is good advice. I'm a little frustrated since I feel like I can walk into an interview at a tier 2 place and get an offer blindfolded, but then the companies at the next level up just have a very high bar so the margin for error is so slim.
Stay away, the entire product and design teams are falling apart and quitting / fired. Extremely toxic and comp not worth it
If you don't mind working with the product teams and designers in APAC with their ways of thinking, hours, cultures then sure! The product team's attrition rate is 63.16% over the course of 6 months and we're expecting something similar for design in the next few months, if not higher. Not sure autonomy is really a thing here either and I've heard rumors about bringing 996. If money is your biggest concern then maybe it'll be worth the grind but if you care about anything else other than money then you better run. Also, options are probably worthless and this company isn't likely to go public so you may want to consider a higher base instead.
The average tenure is maybe 6 months here. Granted, it grew very rapidly over the past 1.5 years, especially engineering because they hired the head of Eng late last year to grow the team. Meanwhile, everyone else has been leaving left and right from all departments.

The engineering team is probably the strongest team in all of Okcoin and maybe OKX. They have good culture and good people. The payments project is a core initiative for the Okcoin and OKX so you would be working on a high visibility project. That being said, prepare for having to build something. You don’t be able to slack.
Okcoin came to US in 2018. Right now it’s a shit show. The stock option is worthless, it’s not going to go public. Mostly likely you will get 2mo salary bonus like most ppl in US. STAY AWAY!
But his current TC is lower than his new base… what does he have to lose?

Apac teams are 996 and working remotely. We just got pushed back to the office, and our unlimited pto removed and replaced with 20 days. They change the employment contract all the time & we have to suck it up. I’m so tired of being pinged all weekend and at midnight.

40 to 180k bonus is a wild range. Is this just engineering performance based, or company performance? Also, you should verify if that bonus is given in cash or equity? Good luck on your upcoming interviews
I believe it is cash and performance based but I have yet to get anything in writing. Thanks for the well wishes.
It’s individual based and cash, however as a former hiring manager for Okcoin/OKX be aware that even if your manager fights tooth and nail to give you the highest bonus, it ultimately comes down to what a committee in China wants and only ~5% of company (usually CN) get the highest tier or even second highest bonus tier. Most end with 2-3 months salary as bonus even if manager thinks they deserve 8.
