Hello, I am a Canadian PR living in Canada and have been unemployed for 10 months but barely landed 3 - 4 proper technical interviews honestly. My all experience is from back home (Pakistan), and I have not gotten any proper experience in Canada so far. A few guys said I sound more like a Ruby Dev only and kind of just an API specialist but that's not right. May be I need a generic resume but need suggestions. I have worked with PHP, Ruby, Rails, React JS, Javascript, React Native, and a very bit of Python and Node JS. Is it my resume issue or a market issue? Should I leave Ruby and start excelling in JS? But for that, I may need to make some apps to refresh my knowledge again. Please suggest anything openly. I am in dire need of a job...... #jobs #resume #resumereview
Looks impressive. Here are some tips to consider: - include a brief Summary paragraph up top. Use it to describe yourself and your core competancies / preferred languages, and the type of role you are looking for. Mention industries /vertical. Customize it for specific job descriptions (eg Frontend dev.. Or backend dev..). For ex, if they are focused on Python and you feel confident then put it front & center, if instead they are focused on mobile/frontend then put your React Native exp upfront in the Summary. Mention the type of role your are looking for (or have experience with) to match the job you are applying for It will also help the ATS and automated tools pick you up. - move skills to bottom. It's a checkbox /laundry list - if these companies are not well - known add a 3-5 word desctiprion next to their name to give context (eg leading retailer or global health tech leader etc) -projects - do they have traction? Users? Are they open-source or consulting projects? It's not clear.. Either way it'll be nice to add some indication of scale and scope (if it's impressive) or at least again a short description of it's not super clear from the name ... Also, goes without saying but try to network in, go to local meetups etc... If you can get referraled in, it'll be grand. BTW - shameless plug - I'm happy to help if you are interested in more personalized help through the process - jobmentors.co/job-seekers (mention you came through Blind for a special). Cheers and best of luck!
Also remember that the first couple of bullets will register for the person reading it as your main skill /competency and interest, so mix it up if it's not Ruby etc
Thanks for the extensive feedback. :) - Summary - I tried adding based on skills. Is that the good one? "Results-driven and innovative Full-Stack Software Engineer with a focus on Ruby, Python, and JavaScript technologies. Specializing in building scalable and high-performance applications, I have a proven track record in e-commerce, telemedicine, social media, and web development. My expertise spans both backend and frontend technologies, with a strong background in microservices and distributed systems. I excel in optimizing system performance, reducing latency, and providing mentorship to engineering teams. Seeking a challenging role in a dynamic environment where I can leverage my skills to contribute to impactful projects, particularly in the areas of e-commerce, healthcare, and social platforms." - Entire skills section at the end after education or before education? - So these were pure service based companies in my experience which are yeah not well known. Like, I worked on different projects in all those companies. Sometimes a product, sometimes 5 - 6 months span projects. Any suggestions? - Projects These are all the projects/products I worked on in different companies and 2 of them are big products and they are live on production. Ok, got it. A small line of description for each product - thanks.
If AI is not stopped soon, it will continue gulping more jobs
I agree with you. thanks.
I think that’s just a ruse. It is making people more productive, but the real threat is outsourcing. That’s happening like crazy.
You can try EdCode.xyz, I guess it's resume review from professionals.
This one? :D I will check it. Thanks. :)
Seems like its a free service. just submitted my resume. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion brother.
Your resume screams “rails dev”
I duly agree with you brother. I requested the same in my message like what exactly I should change in it? So it doesn’t sound like rails dev only. Any guidance please?
https://www.storeylineresumes.com/resumes price depends on what you want/need. pretty reasonable. Resume review with feedback is $150
Thanks for sharing it, dude. I will check it. :)
Try to join a consulting firm? FT roles are tough rn, you can continue looking for FT after getting a contract role… usually contract roles are easier to land
Thanks brother. How to find such roles and consulting firms in Canada?
Sorry I thought you were in US on Canadian PR… You could check the usual kforce, robert half of the likes for open roles in Canada… with a PR work permit shouldn’t be an issue
1. Jobscan - gives 5 free scans. It ranks your resume vs JD. Make changes accordingly. Create a new junk email, use scans, repeat. 2. Chatgpt - Use it to create a resume out of the JD. Or any other similar AI tool. This increases your chances of getting through the ATS. Remember, fake it till you make it. Prepare like that's your last interview when you get one. Good luck!
Thanks so much for your extensive response…..!! I will follow those patterns…!! Stay blessed..!
Talk about how you love agile and writing tested code!
Need to make these adjustments within each company experience lines?
