Buying stock worth 1 billion dollars.. #BlindStockGuidance ๐๐
Only apes buy shares when a bankโs on a brink of collapse
Berkshire made ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ in 2008 when they bought a ton of Amex
Iโm sure Berkshire analyzed financials of Amex thoroughly and had enough information to be confident Amex would survive. If needed Berkshire may have saved Amex on their own by buying their bonds to overcome short term crisis. Anyone sitting on blind can only buy FRC and pray.
Frc seems to get back on track soon
Sure, do you want to transfer your emergency funds to the bank to prove your stance? ๐
I bought stocks straight up, YOLO style (no call options). No time horizon.
What happens to the stocks if some one buys the bank.
The shareholders will get compensated for whatever they buy the bank for. For instance, JP Morgan bought out Bear Stearns at the beginning of the mortgage crisis for $10 a share down over 90% from a month earlier and 95% from it ATH 14 months earlier. FRC is getting into that zone over both time scales If the bank is underwater, though, no one will buy it. Theyโll declare bankruptcy, shareholders will be wiped out, bondholders will get paid some fraction of their original loan based on whatever the remaining assets are worth. Complicating factors Iโm not sure how FDIC insurance works. Presumably, the FDIC gets something back out of the banks assets to defray its costs for making depositers whole.
No for dumps like this you buy calls. Small commitment huge exposure and upside.
Did you get out in time?
