Offer Evaluation Got an offer from AV startup company called zoox Base Pay:175K Cash Bonus: 20K Amazon RSU: worth 21 shares , 3yr vesting Zoox Stock Appreciation Right: 50K , vesting over 6 yrs YOE: 9-10 yrs Is it a good offer ? Are stock appreciation rights as good as ISO’s ? Anyone know is SAR’s are considered superior to options? Any zoox employees have any opinions on current morale in the company and employee sentiment? #auto #zoox #electric

This is a great offer for lower level manufacturing engineer, but low for L5+ software engineer
I don’t know about level specifically , did you mean like senior/staff level? I recall the recruiter saying a while back coming in as a high L4, but not sure what L levels mean I did some research seems like something used in bigger software companies Role is non - software, it’s vehicle electrical engineering
If you want to push for more I would target the SARs (even though they're hard to evaluate their actual value). Base seems on point.

zoox stock appreciation rights - 50K shares over 6 yr vesting , but I did not hear what the value of each share is at this moment , I think that would be known after 409A valuation right? Yea the amazon rsu are what it is non -negotiable , actually it’s 70K USD got locked in at higher share price
This is a good offer for VE L4. I have the same numbers, but with 167k base. Similar experience as well

Good question still figuring that out, both are now well funded companies, lucid though has one disadvantage it will still look for additional rounds of funding post launch, zoox maybe in a better position with Amazon acquisition..TC wise zoox is better especially with the Amazon rsu.. I’m wondering if there are more people leaving than joining zoox at this time, heard something about older zoox employees leaving after their shares were not worth much after the acquisition
I'm at Zoox and moving to Rivian. If your bet is Lucid won't go IPO and your TC is better here then yes, coming to Zoox makes sense; especially that Amazon RSUs is assured money. I'd say try negotiating on Amazon RSUs if you can. Zoox SARs are essentially worth $0 atm.
When did Zoox start giving out cash bonuses (aside from promotions, in lieu of more RSUs)?
Zoox started adding cash bonuses to promotions since they can’t do Amazon RSU refreshers.
