Currently I am working on back-end services where most of the work is related to designing and implementing new service APIs(some of those are low rps, some are very high rps), micro-services architecture, dev-ops and scalability. I have implemented new services E2E on kubernetes cluster all by myself and have a lot of experience in devops too. Successfully delivered couple projects which are in production now with live traffic. It was always my dream to work on distributed systems. I don't know where I stand now with respect to my dream and how much value other companies see for my skillset. Any particular advice on where should I focus more and how much do you value someone with micro-services +devops skillset. YOE 2 TC ~200k
You can do that in the small startups that doesn’t pay much, tons of responsibilities and lots of freedom. I’ve done it and I can beat anyone working for a top tier company anytime because of that. I worked for a prestigious company, my responsibilities were very limited and I didn’t do much or learn much but made more money. Your skillset is very good if you want to improve it you cam go to these startups but you’ll most probably take a paycut.
Appreciate the feedback. Yes, startups are great platform to learn and grow wide set of skills. Unfortunately immigration is a pain point in startups. And being on visa, I have to consider job security before accepting any offer.
