I have the option to work fully remote with my current job as SDE at Amazon. Currently I am living in Seattle suburban area. I am planning to buy a house but real estate prices are not encouraging in Greater Seattle Area at all. I feel I am missing the opportunity to move to a LCOL city, buy a home, and live the american dream! I did my research and couldn’t settle for a specific city. Any suggestions on what cities people would rather move to if they had a work from home job. Edit: Married with kids. I care for my kids education quality. Would rather live in a coty with good school ratings. A city with lakes and parks is important. Love to stroll around every now and then.
ATX sounds like a fit for you
if you are saying Austin TX, I visited the city, liked it. But the real estate market is boiling there. Not much better than Seattle area
How much was the tc diff between remote and your current role
Find Philadelphia on a map. Draw a circle 35 miles around it. Live anywhere outside of that circle. It will be cheap and fine. You may need to go private in some parts of PA but it will be cheap too.
Charlotte, Nashville, Richmond, San Antonio comes to my mind. San Antonio probably most lcol, but hotter than rest
Are you married? Do you have kids? Do you like big cities? Nature? Give us more info
