I hate to think that someone like this is so gullible. But it seems he’s lost billions of investors money in stupid investments at stupid valuations. someone explain? will he come out on top when the vision fund runs out?
If you've read his biography you'd know this guy's batshit crazy. He's known for losing the largest sum money ever during the dot com crash. Yet he's still worth 20b+ 🤷🏻♂️
Hbr wrote a piece on him in 1992. He's good
Whenever I see billionaires do something seemingly counter intuitive, it only means the pleb in me doesn't understand what's really going on. There's always more than meets the eye.
Rumor has it he took his savings while working at Albertsons to open up Softbank. Apparently he still has alot of Albertsons money left.
I’m sure he’s a smart guy but maybe his thesis is wrong?
Greed and gambling at its peak.
He is crazy. His one and only bet that paid off was Alibaba. If he even had 10% of the brains Buffet has when it comes to investing, he would have been the richest person with that kind of resources at his disposal.
Warren Buffet also missed out on the biggest gold Rush in history by not investing in a single tech company. Who knows if any of these investors are smart or just lucky. If you have enough people investing a couple are bound to get lucky many many times
Especially with Bill Gates claimed as a good friend, I find it bizarre that Buffet doesn't invest in technology.
I wonder what made him rich?
He of course is super sophisticated; however, it doesn’t matter who you are if you are trying to allocate 100b of cash in such a short period of time you will make lots mistakes and distort markets. Imo so far it seems SoftBank has done more damage than good.
Alibaba is good. WeWork is bad. You cannot always be right.
It’s not just wework
What else? Uber?
