I am a lead i make 115k base. My tc is like 170k according to SF's calculator.

State Farm 72727272 Jan 23

How’re you getting 170 from 115k base? Ur tc is comprised of base + bonus.

State Farm hop-to Jan 23

Thats just wait the SF tool says.

State Farm 72727272 Jan 23

No way they’ll give you 185. Please update us if they do. As a lead the most you can get for the bonus is 17% of ur salary (which is more rare as it would require the highest rating).

This is true.

State Farm wergkkgv6 Jan 23

Probably 120-150. If you can get over 150 let me know. Good luck!

I know one highly experienced guy, lead software engineer, earning 150k base. So 185 is probably staff technology engineer pay. Unsure, speculating.

State Farm hop-to Jan 23

Also there are two pay grades for lead software engineer. You will probably come in as the lower of the two.

Second this

I wouldn’t expect to see anything higher than 140ish. SF also only offers a bonus on top of salary. As far as industry standards this is TC. However like someone mentioned above there is a silly calculator that tries to sell you that your TC is significantly higher based on things the company pays for (like their portion of health care, blah blah blah). Promotions offer a 10% raise. Getting promoted from P6 lead to P7 lead is a major pain. Only expect to see a roughly 3% raise year over year. The higher you are in your pay band, the lower your raise. I’m not saying don’t take it… I’m just giving you the facts. Feel free to dm me if you have any questions.

State Farm 99la99 Jan 25

Did you accept? What’d you get? I’m guessing 135k

Negotiations still ongoing.. initial base offer is between 140k-160k (sharing a range to maintain anonymity)

Good luck

FINAL UPDATE No change in the final offer. Had a nice conversation with the HR and hiring manager, *declined* the offer and ended this in a good note.
