unlikely
Na I call bs. He’s a new grad the corporations still have some power there since he’s never held a job and can pay him less even if he is worth 1M
No cap. Likely won multiple math competitions, has interned at multiple HFT firms, gets kick ass return offer. Top of his class. Easily worth it for the firm as they will get a return.
But they don’t have to pay 1m they just pay slightly higher than other firms. 200k would prob be enough
Likely has multiple offers. Candidate pool these firms recruit from is very limited. $1M for someone that can ramp up very quickly and make multiple that in following years is a no brainer
No cap. Prob did intership and was a top performer
As an incoming new grad at cit, that’s bs
What’s your tc?
Don’t wanna dox myself but it’s in the peak offer range in another comment
Most average Joes haven't seen real deals before.
Likely cap - peak offers I’ve heard of are in the $600k-$800k range, although Citadel will match/beat anyone
Maybe some Math genius, Olympiad winner types
Its possible. If you’re like a top 1% student there and get competing offers from multiple hedge funds / HFT I could see it getting crazy and hitting $1m.
Plus needs to be some hot project - AI quant stuff
AI quant is bullshit, "AI" in trading firms are algos from 80s, and regardless - noone would hire an undergrad to do state-of-the-art AI.
