Asking for friend who is not on Blind. He is currently working in Telstra and has offers from Thomson Reuters and JP Morgan for software engineer roles. He want to know the difference between both the companies in terms of career growth, wlb and company culture. TC Details - Current - 14 LPA Thomson Reuters - 20 LPA JP Morgan - 22 LPA YOE - 3.5 Which would be a better option in terms of career growth as the difference in compensation is not too much.
Having worked in JP Morgan , I can say that the career growth is negligible there, the work culture is not good at all too and software engineers are treated second grade citizens due to it being a bank. With that being said still I would choose it over thomas since the exit options from JP are way better due to a somewhat OK brand name and moving to high paying banks like Goldman is easier but don't say much longer beyond an year. Also if your friend is offered 601 level then there is decent room for negotiation and with this competing offer JP should be able to offer 28-30 lacs.
Thanks, will let my friend know
If you guys can point out the differences and the reason for choosing JP Morgan, that would be really helpful
