We found a pet sitter for a few days on rovers. They have great reviews(over 100+ reviews at 5 stars). We visited them for a meet and greet and realized that they sit several pets. Should I be concerned? They are charging, including rover fees, $500 for 6 days. TC 450k Yoe 15
I found my cat sitter on Rover and stayed with her after she eventually moved her business off the app, she is fantastic! That being said I had a really good feeling about her from the get go, I picked her over another sitter with hundreds of reviews bc she just seemed more genuine. Trusted my gut and it paid off. If your gut is telling you something’s off about this person, trust it. Find another sitter. It’s not worth the constant worrying. I will always have peace of mind when I’m away bc I know my sitter is excellent. It could be nothing but better safe than sorry!
I used to pet sit on Rover. One pet at a time. You will get different profiles of people there. If you are not comfortable with someone who does a lot of pets at the same time then you can find others - many high rated available.
That’s too expensive. I got a pet sitter on rover for a month for $1200. They only accepted one pet at a time. They were awesome with my dog. They didn’t have many reviews but the reviews they had were good.
Rover is better than hiring random people at least. They vet their sitters pretty heavily and most are at least very experienced pet owners for the kinds of animals they sit. A lot are vet techs doing it on the side so your pet is in really good hands if there’s unusual circumstances or medical issues.
I’m a regular rover sitter. It’s a full on side gig for me that makes me good money. I too take multiple dogs at the same time. Totally depends on what kind of environment you are looking for.
Thank you. Any safety issues I should be worried about?
Totally depends on the sitter my friend. It could go from being the best stay ever to a horrible nightmare. Make sure you keep asking for regular updates, if the sitter doesn’t send them proactively.
I used Rover. The experience can be a hit or miss. Many 5 star reviews doesn’t mean much. You will need to visit and chat with the sitter, and trust your instincts. Sitting several at the same time is not a red flag as long as that’s disclosed on their page - it’s usually cheaper than only sitting one. The one we loved always had 3 dogs at her place and she took care of them all. Unfortunately she stopped the sitter business due to school. A new one had a lot 5 star reviews but turned out not so great. I say don’t do 6 days for the first time. Do one day or two and find out if you like the sitter .
Solid advice. Do a trial stay for a night
Wow did not think about it. Thanks
Yes, and we had a bad experience. Dog sitter brought her mom to sleep in our house (we saw later on camera), took our 10 year old dog on an "overnight hike" on the 4th July weekend 3 hours away, and did not come to check on the dog during the expected hours.
Oh man. That’s bad
I had a good experience, but it’s basically just like Uber, gig platform. Rover is just the platform sitters would use, need to find a good sitter. I prefer my dog stay with an individual rather than those huge boarding companies .
Thanks
I am a dog sitter on rover - I personally don’t do multiple dogs at once because you never know how they’ll get along and it’s a safety thing for me. You know your dog best, but you don’t know those other dogs!
Thanks
Rover works great for us. Why would you be concerned? Sounds like they are experience at taking care of animals…. It would be more concerning if they didn’t actually have any clients. I have my rover person come over once a day to take care of my animals.
