996 is basically 9 AM to 9 PM, 6 days a week, most Chinese companies are rumored to have their employees working this many hours. That's 12 hours a day times 6 = 72 hours a week. In contrast the 955 is 9 AM to 5 PM, 5 days a week = 40 hours a week. OK so it's more of a TIC (Today I Calculated) rather than a TIL, but just wanted to share.
They don’t actually work every hour of that period. There’s a lot of wasted time in between. Though, the typical 9-5 has a lot of wasted time too. Chinese companies just have more of it
I had this schedule for a little while when I was 18 years old and worked as an auto tech. We actually worked through all 72 hours too.
Yeah that's the age where employers can take the most advantage of you
Time to go back work xiaoming
On that 4x10 schedule 👌
You’re good at math, maybe you can become a quant
What are people who seriously work 996 actually doing for all that time? Even with some wasted hours they're still putting in twice as many working hours as I do.
diminishing returns in most cases
Working against their own interests and making the rest of us look bad
Thanks for mathing
Bro they have nap time... lunch outing that goes 2 3 hours and all. It is bad per se as u are committed to 70+ hours a week for work.. but the actual work hours more or less are the same.
955 is a scam too. Workers are required to have breaks by law so some companies especially in contracting make you do 9-6
