Signed an offer for Toast last week but I'm looking at the stock price 📉 which has got me kinda nervous ngl. Worried the offer will be rescinded or be laid off before I even start and after my 2 week notice period.. anyone else in the same boat with their companies/Toast? I have a good bit of money saved up but we're in the middle of a move to a higher COL area.. should I keep interviewing even though I signed the offer? TC: 140K New TC: 200K YOE: 2.5 #severance #layoff #toast
Keep interviewing!
You will be toast if u join toast (pun intended)
all stocks are down, so you prob shouldn’t join any company at this special time
What? I mean you get a pretty damn good discount, don't you?
200k TC and only 2 years experience. You’ll be fine
Toast is sadly toast it’s hard to survive in this market as high growth no profit 5 bill $ company, they either cut costs like crazy to reach profitability or hope they bought up by square, stripe or PayPal.
Seems like the space is overly competitive too. I only see one toast payment hardware in the five years I’ve been living in Boston. I see way more square devices and people just straight up accepting Apple Pay. Especially for smaller non chain stores. Also as more restaurants/bakeries/shops close it’ll just hurt these companies more.
Is the one you’re talking about Tasty Burger?
You could DM me if you have any questions. I work there and we just had an all Hands about This topic
@Onxy Can I DM you?
I think you’ll be fine. We’re not profitable but our unit economics make sense and we’re growing massively. Take a look at our most recent earnings to see what I mean. The stock decrease sucks but if you look at historical revenue multiples for a company of this size, we’re well into undervalued territory now. I think the market is experiencing some panic and throwing the baby with the bath water.
Could I DM for referral? Found a position where my background is a good fit
What I felt from earnings call is CFO didn’t successfully convince investors to buy in our strategy. Also, she kinda dodged few questions investors had or she didn’t prepare it. But again, market sentiment is the biggest problem. Tapering is happening. High growth company can’t get crazy valuation that it had before.
