What is a good TC for a Sr. Software Engineer offer at linkedIn with 8 YOE.
260-300k
Go for staff, LinkedIn levels are inflated.
Why u accept a LinkedIn senior offer with8 years experience?
because staff is hard to get and senior offer is still very decent
300k at max
+1 to LinkedIn titles being inflated. If they don’t offer Staff then may be wait and try to get Sr in FANGT
Inflated? I see engineers with higher titles get leveled lower at LinkedIn all the time. The hiring committee and engineering leaders have the bar quite high for incoming engineers.
Some orgs at LinkedIn do like to promote to Staff faster than others (industry?), but we don't normally hire inflated Staff.
In most cases you should not worry about title (LinkedIn or otherwise). Worry about TC. There are some situations where title matters, but most of the time we use title as a simplification of TC. Title is important when it limits TC. There are situations where lower title is better. Higher titles means you're expected to do more, so getting a higher rating is harder.
New grads become senior in 1 year or 2. Our titles are extremely messed up and stupid.
+1 for LinkedIn titles being inflated. If your interview went great ask for Staff level, you might get it.
