lower TC vs less competition

Seeing how there’s fewer openings for SWE’s right now and potentially lower tc in the future (since there’s less demand but same supply) there could be fewer people trying to switch to a SWE role. I used to see a million posts on reddit about people asking questions on how to transition their career to SWE, but i’m seeing less of those (though i still come across them occasionally). Would you rather see a lower TC (let’s say 20% cut) across the industry for less competition? The influx of competition and talent has made big tech up their interviewing level difficulty over the past few years from what i’ve seen tc: 184k this poll is for fun don’t take it too seriously

TC is all I care about. I don't give a damn about job market, I don't give a damn about economy, all I want is TC.

I'd prefer high TC. Why? I got the LC skill. 😎

How did you get the LC skill? For some reason, i feel LC is challenging, and I'm not able to crack it still.

Keep grinding. It took a few weeks of constant work before I could consistently solve hard problems in under 30m. But better to spend the time now and make more the rest of your life.

20% comp cut industry wide will NOT stop people from wanting to be a SWE. Even a 150k a year job where you work in AC on a laptop 9-5 is a dream to many people.

question is if You would take a 20% cut though. i assume you wouldn’t

I can out compete like 99% of all other candidates, I've been doing competitive programming ever since I was a young teenager. Just give me TC.

Market is going to be flooded with bootcamp grads and people from the developing world. No cartel to protect tech workers.
