Strategy to succeed at Faang

Hi all, I am sorry if my English is not good (I stared learning English 2 years ago). So, I am working as a research scientist and project manager leading a team of 7 people on big project. I want to switch job and I want to try to get an offer at big tech. I am not good at coding and I am learning to be better at coding. I have discussed with a recruiter from Meta last month and they said I can interview for E6 or E5 roles. I was really surprised and scared at the same time. I can work hard to pass the interview (with lot of luck ๐Ÿคฃ). But I am worried once at my job! As I am not really good at coding. I know that first I have to get the offer but I want to know if I can survive and succeed. What E5 (MLE) really do? Please share your experience. Thanks for you help and your advices I have Master and PhD, 3 yoe after master and yoe 4 yoe after PhD.

You have a PhD. You can hack it. Go for E6. Lower level roles require more coding. As an E6 you can be the technical strategist for the team. Or interview for a research scientist role, which might focus less on coding and more on math/stats/ML algo/etc.

Thank a lot for your comment. When you say technical strategist, what do you mean? Currently I am leading all the dev-research topics, I donโ€™t code myself but my team is coding and I guide them on the models to choose, the global architecture of the system.
