I have done the loop. Recruiter just reach out and want to have a meeting discussion about offer. I interviewed as IC3, and feel didn’t do great on system design part. I am curious if they want to down level me to IC2?? Wonder why doesn’t she just call me instead of schedule a meeting to discuss about offer? Anyone have any idea? —— Update: I still got IC3 offer but offer was significant lower than I expected. 144k base + 175k stock + 15k sign-on = 188k I tried to negotiate with her, she doesn’t allow me to negotiate. She said she gave me the number up front before I got this far. I did say the range is aligned with my expectation, does it have to be this low?? TC 180k
What is the offer for IC3?
Down level is not always an option. Probably a reject as opposed to down level if it went down that path.
I tried to negotiate with OCI offer. They never got back after that. Seemed like a shitty place. They offer a job and go to negotiating then go silent for asking more. Crazy. Don't even leave microsoft of that stupid company. I head They vest once in 13.5 months and have frequent stealth layoffs and reorg. Microsoft is heaven. You're about to get lured into hell getting fooled by TC. They manipulate TC by kicking people out just before vesting. And they have 0 bonus. So keep that in mind as well. Join only if they offer a fat joining cash bonus like 100k vested over 2 years. Otherwise say good bye. And be careful. They don't negotiate
this comment! very true! they do silent layoffs. Been there done that got lured by TC now struggling to get out. No time for interviewing elsewhere from this shitty place
100k joining bonus ? Which company these days giving ? Come out of bubble yes it’s a shitty company but for time being if you have no job jump on it
Shitty WLB, save yourself and dont join. Regretting my decision to join here every single day! No credits for the work you do, no raise, no career growth discussions. Do yourself a favor and dont join! And if you still choose to join Good luck to you!
I disagree with you . Yes they are shitty in many ways but if you are layoff what options you have
They do silent layoffs at oci too. Its just not in the news. I am suggesting look for other better places before choosing this one.
Avoid OCI unless you are already jobless
What motivated you considering oci over Microsoft?
To be honest, my org (AKS) is not any better than what folks just described about OCI. Has been with the team for 3 years, got 2 promotes and last 2 connect were LITE and just wait to be fired.
If you're on visa and laidoff and have only 60 days, then join OCI. Otherwise, you're the most uninformed person. Did you even ask around, speak with friends and acquaintance about OCI? If no do so first. Here is the reality: Stocks vests only after 14 months. After that it vests every 12 months. Now, practically they make sure that most employees who join miss their second stock vesting or third. You need to put in a min of 12 hours of work per day (when not on-call). On-call is a nightmare. You're 24/7 for two weeks. You get pages all night. And then you'll be grilled in the morning meeting every single day. They go over every single open ticket and issues every single day. They will such your soul out. Politics and backstabbing and reorgs are crazy to say the least. You're not given ownership of any single tech. You're rotated from one tech to the next, golang, python, Java, front end, backend, rest, dB work, api work. You'll simply not even be able to breathe or grasp or learn anything. They set hourly deadline for tasks which takes weeks. No time for you to learn or prepare. No one cares if you know it or not. ... Eventually they will silently lay you off. If you still haven't left by yourself. And forget about interview prep when working in OCI. It's simply impossible.
Omg I've heard the same. This is the same for AWS as well.
Hmm yeah shitty org might be like this. But my org is pretty chill i go by working 2 hours per day when not oncall. When oncall prob regular 8 hours per day. And we hand over stuff to idc team at night. Just remember to work on overlay team that are building new managed services. In oci, hell and heaven coexist. Just that you will have much higher chance to fall in hell then heaven. Im so grateful im in decent place. I would never leave my team while im in oci
Wow !!! 180k is such a lowball for IC3. I know most of IC2 were making 220k in 2022. But the market today obviously…….anyone will happily take that offer if you don’t want it.
